Using Google Docs as Your CMS

Our former intern Lindsay (immortalized in the Frontal tutorials as Bailey) put together a demo showing how you could use Google Docs as a CMS for your Frontal document. As she described it:

This demo was built to show how easily Frontal code can be used to integrate with all types of resources currently available on the web, this case being with Google. Google Docs is an amazing tool for creating always-available, online spreadsheets containing all types of data. So, why not use Google Docs to create an online Database? This cocktail demo shows how easily you can read data from your own Google spreadsheets. One of the best parts about this example is that authentication with Google is not required. As long as the particular document is published, the Google Spreadsheets API complexity is easily avoided. The other important aspect of the demo shows how you can use Google spreadsheets to create a massive database with only a few lines of code.
